These homeowners bought a beautiful lake house on Bunn Lake with a boat dock that suffered some deferred maintenance. Out of an abundance of care for their investment, the homeowners sought to rescue their dock and create an outdoor living space for entertaining their family and guests before time and the elements took control of the dock. Rather than sending their family and friends home with splinters in their feet, this couple sought to send their family and friends home with lasting memories and rested souls.

The flooring was splintering and rotting with nails poking up out of the boards and the joists beneath had bowed and sagged creating a wavy floor which was both an eyesore and a rocky experience for four-legged furniture. The boat lift was mounted on an isolated joist and over time had caused cracking of structural members and sagging around the boats, but we were able to secure the boat lift onto a more static structural member and plane the bowing floor joints to create a flat surface for the flooring. We repaired and replaced any damaged wood members and we applied a waterproof bitumen tape to every horizontal surface on the dock to preserve it from any standing water. The homeowners chose that we install a waterproof pvc border in Maritime Grey from Azek Decking with a fully encapsulated waterproof composite decking in Stone Ash from Timbertech Decking on the enter deck with hidden fasteners from Deckorators to prevent any toes from being caught by fasteners.

The homeowners loved the space so much they added their back deck to the project in order to tie the home in with the new look of their outdoor living spaces. The dock and deck should be something they’ll enjoy for many many years to come.
